Hi Folks! MONDAY: And I'm sitting on a slightly bumpy ferry to Ireland so, having been deserted by Alice who is clicking away with her camera, I thought I'd take my mind off the swell and tell you what a swell time (sorry for the pun) we just had in Bonnie Scotland. And we sure did have a great time!!!!We picked THE WEE HOOSIE B&B as we were intrigued by the name but we were even more pleased to see they did evening meals as we were driving up from England and had not been in the "old country" since they built the freeways and had no idea how long it would take us. So we called the number on the website and got Val (the landlady) and explained the predicament. Not a problem!!! She suggested a Traditional High Tea which wouldn't spoil if we were late which sounded like a bonza idea. The drive was exhausting but Val's warm welcome soon cheered us up as she checked us into our great little room and served our superb meal. Then when Val came to clear the table she and Alice were right away into conversation (you know what women are like) and we discovered she was a veritable expert on all things Scottish having spent her childhood summers with her grandparents in Aberdeen; now if she has any doubts about something she thinks how her Granny would have done it.Then we got onto the subject of their website title C.A.M.E.O. It stands for: Combined, Accommodation, Meals and Entertainment Organisation. So Val, with her husband John don't just run a B&B but aim to give you a truly memorable experience of Scotland by combining their Accommodation with Evening Meals (Trtaditional Scottish & European Specialities) plus Entertainment (Guided or Self Drive tours plus a selection of Story Telling options from Val an experienced storyteller!)So that is how our one night stay on our way to the Highlands became a week having discovered that from this unique little place called the Wee Hoosie we could get to know all about Scotland whithout having to pack and move on every night (thanks to a handy combination of roads, ferries and trains virtually on their doorstep) and which allowed us to stay in the delightful old village of Monkton. Where, with Val and John's guidance, we were will informed, well fed and well entertained from start to finish!FOR FULL DETAILS OF OUR ITINERARY CONTACT VAL ON HER E-MAIL (as we will be back in Oz soon)
